Artist Biography
Gemini b.1980 is a Kenyan multi media artist who uses various art forms to express herself. Self importance and preservation of ourselves as well as the world around us acts as the basis on her work.
The aim of her work is to draw in the viewers to find the deeper meaning under the work creating an emotional response which will keep them thinking about each piece long after they have moved on. Her work brings on about a new imagination from the viewers which they perhaps didn’t know existed.
Gemini has been a practicing artist for over 15 years and joined the Blender Art Gallery in Perth, Western Australia where she was living for about 10 years and participated in their annual exhibitions held for residents. Since her move back to Nairobi, she has had several exhibitions including The Nairobi National Museum, Banana Hill Art gallery and The Souk Gallery. Her artwork was selected for UN Expo Milano 2015 and also selected for their official press release.
Her work was also exhibited at the Art Revolution Taipei Grand prize competition where her piece was selected as a finalist. Geminis work was part of the Amref Artball 2017 held in New York, USA. She has also exhibited in Swaziland.
Her degree in Interactive Multimedia Technologies and Diploma in Photography made her appreciate the unique quality of hand painting in relation to media prints.
